Mums The Word…

Making

So, I’ve knitted a couple of cowls, and, I think I’m getting pretty good at them. They take less time to make than a scarf, and they don’t hang down to get caught in things, nor do they come loose and need to be adjusted and re-wrapped around your neck. They’re wonderful for kids as they’re less of a safety issue. My parents aren’t really scarf people for all the reasons I’ve mentioned. But, we live in the Midwest. It’s cold. No, frigid. From November to April, the temps can literally bring tears to your eyes. Needless to say, heating bills can get high, and with older folks who are on a fixed income, they want to just wear more clothes and have a slightly lower bill. Eureka! They needed cowls! You can wear them inside and be nice and toasty, and cook on the gas stove with less of the worry that you’ll catch yourself on fire. My mum wanted a lovely, tweedy heather grey…
